Denise B. Pollock, an accomplished educator and director with over two decades of experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE), has been named the new CTE Director for Person County Schools. She succeeds Judy Bradsher, who is retiring after 12 years of dedicated leadership and service in the role.
Ms. Pollock began her educational career in 2004, teaching Business and Career Development in Jones County Public Schools. She has since taught in Wake County and Pender County, specializing in Business and Marketing Education. Throughout her teaching career, she consistently demonstrated excellence in instruction, teacher mentorship, and professional development. She also served as a facilitator for multiple school improvement teams and was recognized for achieving high levels of student proficiency on state assessments.
In 2019, Mrs. Pollock transitioned into her leadership role as the Associate CTE Director and Curriculum & Instructional Management Coordinator for Pender County Schools. She was responsible for instructional coaching, technical support, and curriculum implementation guidance for CTE staff and programs. She was actively involved in teacher recruitment and retention, professional development, licensure support, and compliance with state education guidelines. She organized district-wide events such as Job Shadow Day, served as a CTE testing coordinator, and served as a member of the statewide PBM Data Team. Her leadership is grounded in a commitment to student success, teacher support, and career readiness for all learners.
Ms. Pollock was honored as the Southeast Curriculum & Instructional Management Coordinator of the Year in both 2023 and 2025. She was also nominated as Topsail High School Teacher of the Year in 2015–2016, a testament to her outstanding contributions to education at every level.
She holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Vocational Business Education Certification from East Carolina University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing and a Minor in Telecommunications from Fayetteville State University, graduating magna cum laude.
Upon being chosen for the PCS CTE Director position, she shared, "I am truly honored to join Person County Schools and excited for the opportunity. I look forward to working alongside passionate educators and community partners to empower students through meaningful career and technical education experiences that prepare them for success in high school, college, and beyond. My vision includes all students of Person County Schools to be enrolled, enlisted, or employed upon graduation.” Mrs. Pollock is a mother of two children, Taylor and Gio.
