In compliance with North Carolina Open Meetings Law (N.C.G.S. § 143‑318.10), notice is hereby given that a majority of the Person County Board of Education may attend a Bond Committee meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the boardroom located at 304 South Morgan Street, Roxboro, NC.

💡 Power has been restored at Woodland Elementary! 🙌

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your patience and flexibility while the outage was being addressed. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we worked through the disruption.

💡Woodland is currently experiencing a power outage along with the surrounding area.

At this time there are no changes to our daily schedule. Teachers are continuing to teach.
Thanks to our water tower we still have access to running water and flushing toilets 🙌😄.
We are working with School Nutrition and our lunch menu has been altered for the day to include grape PB&J or Honey PB&J with assorted cold veggies and fruits.

The PCS Maintenance Dept is working on gathering details of how long the outage is expected.

We will update you as we have additional info. Our normal phone lines are down, but our backup phone line is plugged in and working: 336-599-8730.

🚌☀️ SCHOOL BUS SAFETY — SLOW DOWN & STAY ALERT!

Bright and early Monday morning, our big yellow buses will be rolling as we kick off the 2026-27 school year! That means more buses, bus stops, and students on our roads. School bus safety is everyone’s responsibility. 👧👦📚

As you head out Monday morning and throughout the school year:

🛑 STOP when a school bus is stopped with flashing red lights. Never pass a stopped school bus.
👀 WATCH carefully for children getting on or off the bus.
🐢 SLOW DOWN and be prepared to stop in school zones and neighborhoods.
📵 PUT THE PHONE DOWN and keep your attention on the road.
⏰ GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME. Getting there safely is more important than getting there quickly.

🚨 Passing a stopped school bus can result in a $500 fine and five points on your driver’s license. If a driver strikes a child, the offense becomes a felony.

A child’s life can change in a split second. Stop for the bus. Protect our kids. ❤️

Let’s work together to make sure every Person County student gets to school and back home safely!

We are excited to share our classroom assignments for the 2026–2027 school year! This year, Woodland will also pilot departmentalization in 3rd and 4th grade. Students will have a homeroom teacher while switching between two teachers for core instruction, allowing each teacher to specialize in specific subjects. This model provides students with the benefit of learning from teachers who focus on their content area, creates smoother transitions to upper grades, encourages collaboration among teachers, and ensures consistent, high-quality instruction. We are excited about the opportunities this will provide and look forward to a wonderful year of learning together! 🚧✂️✏️ We are in the process of updating supply lists to match our model for this school year. These will be shared soon. If you have already purchased from the published lists, that is totally fine. Please know we will work with you to provide anything not originally listed.
