What a Week, Cougars! 🐾 This might have been the shortest school week in history, but we were so happy to have our Cougars back in the building today! 💙 📢 Don’t forget to check out this week’s Paw Print Newsletter for updates. Over the next few weeks, our schedule will be a bit quieter as we focus on mid-year assessments. These assessments are incredibly important—they help us see how much your child has learned since the beginning of the year and identify the skills they still need to work on to reach grade-level proficiency. 🗣️ Please encourage your student to give their best effort on these assessments! Accurate results will help us provide the support they need to succeed. Don't forget to check your child's bookbag for their report card! 📄 Please sign the cover sheet and return it on Monday. Don't forget there is no school on Monday or Tuesday this week! On Monday, January 20, there will be no school as we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a visionary leader who fought tirelessly for equality, justice, and peace. His leadership during the Civil Rights Movement changed the course of history, reminding us of the importance of standing up for what is right and treating all people with dignity and respect. This day off is more than just a break from school; it’s an opportunity to reflect on how we can live out Dr. King’s dream in our own lives. As Dr. King so beautifully said, "The time is always right to do what is right." Let’s honor his legacy by continuing to work towards making the world a better place for all. There will also be no school for students on Tuesday, January 21, as our teachers will be hard at work during a scheduled Teacher Workday! This important day gives our teachers the time they need to: 📝 Finalize report cards and evaluate student progress. 📖 Participate in professional development sessions to grow their skills and enhance classroom instruction. 💡 Collaborate with colleagues to plan meaningful lessons and activities for the weeks ahead. Due to secondary roads throughout the county still being snow covered, PCS students will have a remote learning day tomorrow, Monday, January 13th. Staff will operate on a two-hour delay. Stay safe and warm.

Due to the forecasted winter weather, Person County Schools will release early on Friday, January 10th. Elementary and high schools will release at 12:45 pm and middle schools will release at 1:00 pm. There will be no daycare or any other after school activities.

With a Winter Storm Watch in effect for our area, we’ve decided to postpone the Student Art Show & Free Family Movie Night originally planned for tomorrow at The Kirby. 🎨📽️ Mark your calendars—our rescheduled date is February 28! Stay safe, warm, and enjoy a cozy Family Night at home tomorrow. ❄️❤️

To ensure the safety of all of our bus riders and routes that begin well before daylight, Person County Schools will be on a two-hour delay, tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7th for all students and staff.

Due to the Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service and the posssibilty of hazardous road conditions, Person County Schools will be closed for students Monday, January 6th.
