Beginning Monday, Ms. Williams and Mrs. Ford's Bus Numbers will be changing, but their routes will remain the same!
Students who rode Bus 40 will now ride Bus 51 (still with Ms. Williams).
Students who rode Bus 51 will now ride Bus 40 (still with Ms. Ford).
We’re also excited to start Bus Dojo points! Students can earn a point each morning and afternoon for positive behavior. 🚍💙
If a student needs a warning, they’ll lose a point. Serious or unsafe behaviors—like not keeping hands to self, standing while the bus is moving, or using inappropriate language—will still result in bus suspensions.
Students who have 85% or higher positive Dojo points for Bus Behavior will receive a treat from the bus driver!
Thanks for helping us keep our buses safe and positive for everyone!

A big shoutout to our amazing PTO for planning and organizing this fun, free family event! Here are a few reminders before you come:
🍂 Parking: Available in the main parking lot and grass/dirt area by the playground. Cars may also park in the circle drive—just please don’t block anyone in, and do not go past the roped-off area of the playground.
🚪 Entrance: Use the front doors nearest the playground. The office entrance will be closed.
🚻 Restrooms: Located on the K–2 hallway.
🎂 Cake Walk: Bring small bills or use our new Venmo option!
☕ Food & Coffee Trucks: Bring your preferred payment method (cash/card) if you’d like to purchase food or drinks.
📚 Book Fair: Open during the festival—cash, check, or card accepted!
🎶 All the fun happens behind the school! Games, DJ, Fire Truck, Smoke House, Cake Walk, and more!
👻 Costumes are encouraged! Please leave weapon accessories at home.
👨👩👧👦 Students must be accompanied by an adult for the entire evening.
We can’t wait to celebrate this festive night with our Oak Lane families! 💛💙

Person County Schools has recently transitioned to a new student attendance notification system. If you receive a text message like the one pictured, please know that it is legitimate. The link will take you to a secure website where you can access the attendance letter that, in past years, was mailed home.
We recognize that the wording of the letter may come across as strong, but please know it is a required template that fulfills state attendance law. We certainly are not critical of you keeping your child at home in the case of illness or for other reasons that meet the approved excused absences.
As a parent of two Person County School students, I actually received one of these notifications myself today. The letter stated that my child was marked absent without a valid excuse, even though I submitted a doctor’s note. This shows us that, as with any new system, there will be some initial growing pains and kinks to work out.
If you believe there is an error with your child’s attendance record, please reach out to our data manager, Mrs. Salvitti at salvittir@person.k12.nc.us or our School Social Worker, Ms. Stovall at stovallt@person.k12.n.c.us. They will gladly work with you to make sure it is corrected. We ask for your patience and kindness as they help navigate this new process—these issues are not their fault, and they are here to support our families.
Please let us know if you have any questions!

We have noticed many cars using the circle drive instead of the entrance by the tree line during our busiest arrival window. During our busiest time, this is creating traffic backups in both directions and, at times, even blocking buses from entering the circle drive.
To alleviate any confusion and to ensure a safe and efficient arrival:
From 7:55–8:20 AM, all vehicles must use the entrance on the far side of the parking lot, near the tree line and circle around the back row of the parking lot.
Only school buses may use the circle drive during this time.
Please refer to the two photos below for guidance—one shows the correct procedure when buses are in front of the school, and the other shows what to do when buses are not in front of the school.

Your child’s attendance is vital to their success! Please make it a priority for your child to arrive on time and stay all day, every day. ⏰📚
We know that illness and appointments happen from time to time, but these should be the exception—not the routine. Consistent attendance helps your child learn, grow, and thrive! 💡✨
Together, let’s make every minute count! 💙🐾

The club will meet every Thursday until 5:15 PM. For dismissal, please follow our regular car rider traffic pattern. We ask that you remain in your vehicle and use the car line rather than parking and walking up to pick up your child.
If your child is registered, they will automatically be sent to My Life Matters each Thursday. If you need to make a change to their dismissal plans, please call the office. For student safety, we cannot accept a student’s word that a parent said they would not be staying; communication must come directly from a parent/guardian.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep all students safe!
