Due to ice-covered secondary roads, tomorrow will be an optional teacher workday for Person County Schools. The safety of our staff and families remains our top priority.
School buildings will open at 10:00 a.m. for staff who choose to report. There will be no classes for students.
To support our families, free take-out lunch will be available for students at Southern Middle School from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

These activities are designed so that internet access is not required and students should use the materials already sent home or previously shared by their teacher.
Students should complete their assigned work according to teacher directions and return it as instructed when school resumes.

Tomorrow, Friday, December 19, is an Early Dismissal Day. Students will dismiss at 12:45. Buses will arrive approximately two hours and 15 minutes earlier than our regular dismissal days! After-school care will be closed tomorrow afternoon! If your child typically attends after-school care, please call the school before 12:00 to let us know his/her dismissal procedures!

This week, during morning meetings, students will be learning about a variety of winter holidays celebrated around the world. From Christmas to Kwanzaa and beyond, these lessons are designed to promote understanding, respect, and appreciation for the diverse traditions represented within our school community.
As we prepare to pause for the break, I want to thank our students, families, and staff for a wonderful first half of the school year. Your continued support, partnership, and commitment to our school make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students each day.
