Hey, Panthers!
Mrs. Moss here with your weekly SMS update. Last week, all students took their Reading NC Check-Ins, and 8th graders also took Math and Science. Scores are available for you to view through Infinite Campus. Teachers will be utilizing student data to help drive their instruction as we move into the second quarter. 6th grade students will take their Math Check-In on November 5th, and 7th grade will take theirs on November 12th.
Our Quarter 1 Awards Ceremonies will be held this week on Thursday, October 30th in the gym: 6th Grade's ceremony will be at 9:30 AM, 7th Grade at 11:15 AM, and 8th Grade at 1:30 PM. Families are welcome to attend, and if you'd like to check your child out after the ceremony, we'll have a process in place to make that easy.
We want to take a moment to highlight our boys soccer team as they finished up their season this past week. They made outstanding growth over the course of the season and brought home more wins than the program has seen in years! Thank you to our student athletes, Coach Reightler, and our Panther families that made this possible. Our volleyball team was incredibly successful this season, securing a division title in their win over Northern last week in a nailbiter of a game. Congratulations to our student athletes, families, and our dedicated coaching staff on this achievement. Our football team is still in action. This week, they will travel to Stanback on Wednesday to play at 5pm. Next week, they'll take on Northern Middle at 6pm at Person High School on Wednesday, November 5th.
Our 7th grade team will be closing out their raffle fundraiser at the end of the week. Tickets are available for $10 each or 3 for $20 if you'd like to enter! Pictures of baskets are included on this week's Smore newsletter! There are also a couple of opportunities to help a some of our teachers with their Donors Choose projects linked on the newsletter this week. Mrs. Bailey-Short and our self-contained EC team, Mrs. Pearce, and Dr. Bratton all have projects active to raise funds for resources for their students.
Have a great week, Panthers!

It's National School Bus Safety Week! Safety doesn't begin or end with the bus ride. It's about safety at every stop!
Please remember these two important safety tips:
Stay Alert: Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods.
Stop for the Bus: Obey the stop-arm law every time.
Thank you for all that you do to help keep all PCS students safe from the time they leave home in the morning until they return in the afternoon!
