I am honored to be entering my 2nd year as principal of Person High School, a place that I called home as assistant principal from 2018-2021.

I was a NC Teaching Fellow and graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Mathematics and from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Masters in School Administration. I have been in education for 21 years, 15 of those as a high school math teacher. In addition to being an assistant principal at PHS from 2018-2021, I was also the principal at Woodland Elementary School from 2021-2022. I look forward to working with the PHS staff, students, families, and community to take PHS to even greater heights. I am beyond excited to continue this journey with you!

For the last 13 years I have had the pleasure of teaching some of the greatest students a teacher could wish for. Many memories have been created in room 223. The bonds that I have made have not only allowed me to teach but have also allowed me to learn and grow. It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I will be leaving the classroom and embarking on a new journey in the administrative role as Assistant Principal at Person High School. I look forward to engaging students in a different capacity and strengthening connections with students, parents and faculty.

After being at Northern Middle School as an AVID instructor, Athletic Director, and Administration Intern over the last two years, I am beyond excited to come back home to be an assistant principal at Person High School for the upcoming school year. I am a recent graduate of the PPEERS program, earning my MSA through UNCG. I have spent my entire career in secondary education, including 19 years as a high school social studies teacher and athletic coach at Person High School. I was involved with our football, baseball, and track programs during my last time at Person High School. Additionally, I assisted our school with the Rocket Academy and Rocket Fuel Retreat programs.

Although I am not a native of Roxboro/Person County, I call this wonderful place my home. I have had two stepdaughters that had a wonderful learning experience in the Person County School system. Currently, my granddaughter will be enrolled at Stories Creek Elementary.

I look forward to making Person High School an even more inclusive learning experience for our teachers and students and to meeting the staff and students soon. It's a great day to be a Rocket again!

In 2001, I graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor’s degree in Religion and double minors in German and History. After a brief tenure as a lateral entry teacher, I went back to school and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching at Duke University. Most recently, I earned my School Administrator’s license from High Point University.

Since 2004, I have served in a variety of roles as an educator including high school teacher, building-level instructional coach, district-level facilitator, and school-based administrator.

I am excited to join the faculty and staff at Person High School as an Assistant Principal! I look forward to getting to know, work with, and serve our faculty and staff, students, families, and community.
