On Monday, April 8th we will experience a rare total solar eclipse! According to Royal Museums Greenwich, once a place on Earth witnesses a total solar eclipse, it will be about 400 years before that part sees the next one. Roxboro will experience ~80% obscuration 2:00-4:30 PM with the height of the eclipse occurring at 3:15 PM.
Parents, Guardians, and Teachers, please remind your students that viewing a solar eclipse requires caution to protect your eyes. When viewing a solar eclipse, including the one occurring on Monday, it's crucial to use proper eye protection to prevent damage to your eyes. Looking directly at the sun, even during an eclipse, can cause serious and permanent eye damage, including blindness.
This week we will be administering the third round of NC Check-Ins (2.0) for grades 5-8. The purpose of the NC Check-Ins 2.0 is to provide students, teachers, and parents with immediate, in-depth action data and a reliable estimate of students’ current performance on selected subsets of content standards. Both the end-of-grade (EOG) and end-of course (EOC) tests share a common question bank with the NC Check-Ins, which then exposes NC Check-In students to similar question types and rigor found on the EOGs and EOCs.
If you would like more information about NC Check-Ins 2.0, please visit the North Carolina Department of Education website.
