North Elementary's History

North Elementary School was established in 1969. Our school is located in the northern part of Person County. Our current enrollment includes 150 students in Grades 2-5. North represents diversity as well as a positive learning environment. In the last few years, North’s students have met or exceeded growth on North Carolina’s End of Grade Assessments. There are 10 full-time teachers with two teachers assigned to each grade level. We also have 20 other staff members who serve in various support capacities.

North is a Title I school, and 100% of our students receive free lunch. The teachers and staff serve a diverse population. The teachers and staff at North work extremely hard to support the "whole child" and to meet many needs for our children and families. We offer small class sizes, individualized student support, and a familial atmosphere amongst colleagues and school leadership. Also, North works in conjunction with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill which serves our K-1 students.
