Person County Schools Announces Dr. Carla Murray as New Chief Human Resources Officer
Person County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Carla Murray as the district’s new Chief Human Resources Officer. Dr. Murray will assume the role as Chief Human Resources Officer Lori Stacey concludes her 32 years of service, with her final day on May 29 and retirement effective June 1.
Dr. Murray brings a wealth of experience in human resources, student services, and school leadership. She currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Athletics for Stanly County Schools and previously held the role of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Student Support Services in Caswell County Schools, where she led district-wide human resources operations and supported critical student services initiatives.
A seasoned educator and administrator, Dr. Murray has also served as a principal, assistant principal, and classroom teacher, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of school system operations at every level. During her tenure as principal of North Elementary School in Caswell County Schools, she was named Principal of the Year and led the school to notable academic growth and recognition as a Piedmont Triad Education Consortium Signature School.
Dr. Murray holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University, along with an Educational Specialist degree, a Master’s in School Administration, and principal licensure. Her leadership experience includes oversight of district human resources functions, supervision of student support services, and collaboration with school leaders on personnel and compliance matters.

Dr. Murray will begin her new role tentatively on June 17, and the district looks forward to her leadership in advancing strategic human capital initiatives.
