The Person County Board of Education is seeking feedback regarding the 2024-2025 school calendar. PCS staff is presenting three options for the 2024-2025 calendar—one with an early start date and two with the traditional start date. Please review all calendars (linked in the survey) and provide feedback through the survey linked below. Good afternoon, Due to a city water line break on Ridge Road and the water being turned off at the school, Person High bus riders will be released at 1:10 pm and car riders/student drivers will be released at 1:25 pm. Please note: Ridge Road is closed. Parents picking up car riders will need to drive up Carver Drive from the boulevard and turn right into the bus parking lot where car riders will be waiting. Car rider parents - please do not arrive at the school prior to 1:20 pm so that buses can be dismissed.

Due to the possibility of patchy ice on the roads and extremely cold temperatures/wind chills for bus riders, PCS will operate on a 2-hour delay for staff and students tomorrow, 01/17. Breakfast will not be served and daycares will open at 8 am. Please be careful and stay safe.

Due to power outages and trees down in spots across the county, Person County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students on Wednesday 01/10. This will allow time for power restoration, debris to be cleaned up, and buses to run during daylight hours. Please travel safe.

Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! Thank you to our local law enforcement for all they do to keep our students and communities safe!

Congratulations, South Elementary School for being recognized as one of the TOP TEN schools in the state of North Carolina in the National Elementary And Secondary Education Act Distinguished Schools Program! The program publicly recognizes qualifying federally funded schools for positive educational advances and the outstanding academic achievement of their students. South Elementary School was recently recognized in Category 2 for closing the achievement gap between student groups for two or more consecutive years! Congratulations to all staff, students, families, and the community for making South Elementary School a great place to work and learn.
