Substitute Teaching in Person County Schools
All prospective substitute teachers are required to complete an online application with the Person County School System through Applitrack by visiting the Teacher Match Online Application.

In addition to completing the online application, prospective substitutes must attend one of the orientations below.

If you are not able to attend orientation, you MUST complete the virtual training at a cost of $39.00 (App Garden Virtual Substitute Training).
Once you have completed the training, please email Tracy Scruggs (email@example.com) to set-up a time to complete all of the necessary paperwork. In addition, you will need to complete the online application (see above).
The Person County School System seeks to employ well-qualified persons to staff classrooms in the absence of regular teachers. Prospective substitutes must possess a minimum of thirty (30) hours post high school (college hours). Priority consideration will be given to prospective substitute teachers who, in addition to meeting all employment criteria defined by the PCS, possess educational training beyond the high school level. Priority consideration will be based on the following:
- One who holds a valid teaching credential
- Successful experience(s) in working as a substitute teacher
- College graduate
- Minimum of 30 hours of post high school coursework
In order to be placed on the substitute teacher list, the applicant must also attend an orientation annually which is conducted by Person County Schools’ staff. Applicants will also receive training on the AESOP System.
VERIFICATION OF EDUCATION LEVEL
Prospective substitute teachers are required to submit a transcript or diploma for verification of the educational level completed. Certified substitutes must submit a copy of their state license for verification.
ALL employees, including substitutes, will view their checks and end of year documents (W2s) through TimeKeeper. Checks nor check stubs will be printed or mailed. You must be set up for Direct Deposit to receive compensation for time worked. To do this, stop by Central Services with either a voided check or verification from your banking institution with routing number and account number. To view your check, first, be sure your pop-up blockers are off. An active pop-up blocker will prevent you from seeing your check.
Instructions to view your check:
- Visit Time Keeper
- Enter your employee id number
- If it is your first time logging in:
- Enter your Employee ID Number again when asked your password.
- You will be prompted to change your password
- If you have logged in before
- Enter the password you created.
- Click on "Inquiries"
- Click on "View Pay Checks"
- Select Month to Display
- The check number and date will appear in the "Checks Found" box
- Double click on the check
- The check appears
- Click on print
