STAR - Employee Recognition Program

  • The Person County School district is proud to have dedicated staff members and we want to recognize the outstanding service of these individuals.

The STAR program was created to recognize employees for being selfless, working as and among a team, taking action, and achieving results.  This program embodies the same principles that PCS searches for in all employees.  During the year, PCS will recognize 4 employees from 2 sites at each board meeting.  Schools will be assigned the months in which employees from that site are being nominated.  The information below will help to provide a better visual for what our new STAR program is all about. For more information or questions e-mail the Rewards & Recognition committee at

What is STAR all about?

  • “And then some”, a poem written by Carl Holmes, helps to demonstrate an employee that is worthy of recommending.

    The poem reads…..“AND THEN SOME…

These three little words are the secret to success.

They are the difference between average people

and top people in most companies.

The top people always do what is expected…

    and then some.

    They are thoughtful of others,

    they are considerate and kind…

    and then some.

They meet their responsibilities fairly and squarely…

    and then some.

They are good friends and helpful neighbors…

    and then some.

They can be counted on in an emergency…

    and then some.

I am thankful for people like this,

for they make the world a better place.

Their spirit of service is summed up in these three little words…

    and then some.”
