A message from the Director....
Welcome to Person County Learning Academy (PCLA)! PCLA is an alternative program serving Person County School System’s secondary students in grades 6 through 12.
The mission of the Person County Learning Academy is to provide the environment and activities to equip students with the desire, behaviors, and skills to reintegrate successfully in their home school or complete their high school diploma requirements while at PCLA.
PCLA staff are committed to meeting the personalized academic and social-emotional needs of every student enrolled and providing a safe and structured environment for learning. We can meet our students' personalized needs with smaller class sizes; with focused lessons that include the best blend of face to face instruction and computer assisted learning activities.
Students from Northern Middle School, Southern Middle School, and Person High School may be assigned to PCLA for one of the following reasons:
- Long-term suspension assignment or student with felony charges
- Individual Education Plan team placement decision
- Voluntary Referral by Parent (with approval)
- Involuntary Referral (drop out recovery, transition from a facility, significant disruptor to home campus environment)
PCLA occupies a state-of-the-art facility, thanks to the generosity of both the Lewell T. Huff VFW Post 2058, which donated the property and the Person County School Board, which dedicated considerable funding to the building project.
If you would like to learn more about how you can support the students and staff of PCLA, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 336-322-1021.
